In recent months, the coronavirus pandemic has started to ease, allowing New Zealand borders to entirely re-open. However, the negative impacts of the pandemic have had a significant influence on the New Zealand economy. New Zealand citizens have had a drastic increase in the cost of living as the quarterly inflation rate was 1.7%, with an annual inflation rate of 7.3%. Also, the official cash rate (OCR) was raised a further 50 basis points in May, taking the total OCR to 2.0%. Therefore, these societal contemporary issues have majorly affected ANZ KiwiSaver performance.
